Dr. Anneloes Smitsman (Ph.D., LLM), is the founder and CEO of EARTHwise Centre and EARTHwise Ventures. She is a futurist, entrepreneur, systems scientist, award-winning pioneer in human development, and award-winning bestselling author. She leads the EARTHwise faculty and is the lead author of the EARTHwise Constitution, the Participatory Framework for Creating a Global AGI Constitution, and creator of the Elowyn: Quest of TIme game. She has guided thousands of people and hundreds of organizations in their leadership development for a thrivable world and future.
She was awarded the 2022 Visioneers Lifetime Achievement Award and was crowned overall African winner in the category "Human Development" of the 2022 Africa’s Most Respected CEOs Awards by The Business Executive in collaboration with the Economic Development Board Mauritius. She is also a winner of the BIZZ 2022 Business Excellence Award by WORLDCOB.
She holds a Master’s degree in Law and Judicial Political Sciences from Leiden University and received a degree of Doctor from the Maastricht Sustainability Institute at the School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University, the Netherlands. She lives with her two sons in Mauritius and is regularly in the Netherlands for family and work.
Erik-Jan Hoekstra (MBA) is a co-founder of The Thrive and is driven by a profound belief in the transformative power of leadership rooted in humanity. Supporting organizations to move out of the trap of mechanistic paradigms, and short-term results, by reconnecting people and organizations with the living essence within. His approach is rooted in the recognition of organizations as dynamic, living systems. He believes that true transformation happens when leaders nurture environments where individuals are empowered to thrive, adapt, and contribute to long-term goals and values.
Guided by nature and grounded in humanity, Erik-Jan catalyzes honest conversations with leaders who aspire to make a meaningful difference in their organizations and the world. With a deep curiosity, he quickly gets to the heart of complex challenges, providing clarity and actionable insights. He weaves together wisdom and pragmatism to inspire sustainable change.
As a coach, Erik-Jan partners with executives and leadership teams, helping them navigate the complexities of transformation with depth, vulnerability, and resilience. His expertise lies in pattern recognition and unlocking innovative pathways, ensuring strategies are energized and implemented successfully. He is also an active social entrepreneur, dedicating himself to ventures that contribute to a better world. Erik-Jan has a Masters in Business Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He lives with his family in the Netherlands.
