Elowyn begins in single-player mode, with multi-player functionality planned for Alpha release in Q2 of 2025. Looking ahead, we’re also developing a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), with the prototype (POC) already completed. Your involvement will help bring these exciting opportunities to life!

This is the freemium pre-Alpha (MVP) version of Elowyn CCG. As such, you may encounter bugs, server issues, or even potential account loss. By playing, you accept these risks and understand that this is not the final release; the Alpha version is next followed by Beta after which there's the official full release of the game. If your account is lost, you can restart using this free version. Unlike traditional game launches, we’re sharing Elowyn early to invite you into its development journey. Your gameplay helps shape a community-driven experience and trains both the Moloch and Elowyn AIs to become smarter and wiser!

To embark on your Elowyn adventure, please follow these steps to create your account as explained in the video above:

1. Press the PLAY button on this page:  This connects you to the web-based build of the game. Note: The game can be played on any computer and some tablets through your browser. However, it is not yet available for mobile devices. We anticipate launching mobile compatibility in early 2025. Stay tuned for updates! 

2. Click "sign up" at the bottom of your game screen to create your account:

   • Enter your Email and secure Password, then click "REGISTER." 
   • The "WALLET" function is optional for later stages (after the EWA token launch) for a blockchain-integrated experience that connects to your MetaMask, which enables seamless interaction with blockchain applications.

3. Note: Using a crypto wallet is not required to play Elowyn.

By following these steps, you'll be ready to immerse yourself in the world of Elowyn. Should you encounter any issues during account creation, please refer to our support page for assistance.

• If the game is not leading well, please clear your browser cache. We continued to improve and update the game behind the scenes, and to ensure you get the latest version clearing your cache regularly will help.

To begin, go to the Library in the game, select your Hero, and create your deck by clicking New Deck. You’ll choose from one of the five Guardians of Elowyn: Aleph, Kairos, Gebo, Shakti, or Eureka, each with unique playstyles and special abilities tied to their deck (explained further below on this page).

For the pre-Alpha (MVP) version, your deck must contain exactly 30 cards. Here's how to build it:

1. Choose Your Guardian’s Unique Cards: Each Guardian has four unique cards available in the “Hero” section. Some of these can be added twice so choose wisely based on your strategy.
2. Complete Your Deck: Head to the “Classic” section to select the remaining cards needed to complete your deck.

Pro Tip: Aim for balance in your deck by including:

• A mix of minion and spell cards.
• Both high (legendary) and low mana cards to ensure stronger strategies throughout battles.

Deck Creation Rules

Here are the key rules for deck building in Elowyn:

• Deck Creation Limit: Create up to 10 custom decks.
• Decks per Guardian: Each Guardian can have 2 custom decks tailored to their abilities.
• Card Limit: Each deck must contain exactly 30 cards.

Copy Limits

• Non-Legendary Cards: Up to 2 copies of any non-Legendary card per deck.
• Legendary Cards: Only 1 copy of each Legendary card is allowed per deck.

The game will automatically validate your deck to ensure it meets these rules before it can be used in play.

Finalize Your Deck

Once you've selected your 30 cards, click to finish the deck setup. Then, click Play to view all your created decks. From there, select the deck you want to use and dive into the action!

Mana Management

Mana is the key resource for playing cards, summoning minions, and casting spells. At the start of each turn, you gain additional Mana Crystals, allowing you to play higher-cost cards as the game progresses. Managing your Mana effectively is critical to building powerful strategies and balancing immediate actions with long-term planning.

The Mana cost of each card is displayed in the top-left corner, and your current Mana is shown in the bottom-right of the screen in the Mana Tray.

• Coin Flip: At the start of each match, a virtual coin is flipped to decide randomly whether you or the Shadow Arc will go first.
• First Player Advantage: The player who goes second is given a "Coin" card, which provides one additional Mana Crystal for that turn. 

• Drawing of Cards: At the start of your turn, cards are automatically added to your deck at the bottom of the battle board.

Playing your Cards

Play your cards by dragging them from the bottom of the board to the middle section. 

• Minion cards: dormant after they’re placed on the board, which is visible via the ‘zz’ above the card, and activates on the next turn.
• Spell cards can be played straight away as they’re placed on the board. 
• Playing your Hero Power: Each Hero has a unique Hero power which is visible in the hexagon at the top-left of your Hero’s Avatar and requires sufficient mana.
• Combat Phase: Use your cards to reverse the Moloch clock, heal the Elowyn (increase its HP), or attack Moloch’s Shadow Arc. Make sure you have sufficient mana to play your cards.  
• End Turn: When you have no more mana to play your cards, you can click the “End Turn” button, which then shifts the turn to Moloch.

Health Points or HP

1. Your Guardian Hero starts with 30 health points (HP).
2. The Elowyn Tree starts with 30 health points (HP).
3. The Moloch Shadow Arc (your opponent)  starts with 30 health points (HP).
4. The Moloch Clock starts in the middle, at the 6 o’clock position.

Healing the Elowyn Tree of Life

The following cards and Hero power can be used to increase the health (HP) of the Elowyn Tree by pointing to the Tree: 

• Sophia (Basic Card), the “Phoenix” (Unique card from Shakti’s deck), and the “Unicorn”(Unique card from Shakti’s deck). 
• Shakti's Hero power can also be used to heal the Tree by dragging it to the bottom of the Tree at the bottom-left of the board. 

You can also heal the Elowyn Tree through time reversal: 

• Each step backward on the clock restores 10 HP to the Tree.
• Multiple time reversals within a single turn will stack healing, allowing for rapid recovery. For example, reversing time by 3 steps will heal the Tree by 30 HP.

The following stats apply to the state of health of the Elowyn Tree:

1. Healthy (60-31 HP): The Tree appears vibrant and full of life, with lush green leaves and a glowing core, representing the health of the Elowyn world. 
2. Ill (30-1 HP): Moloch has taken over the Tree, and decay starts to show as the Tree's health deteriorates and its leaves turn brown. This represents how the planet is being damaged by Moloch-dominated societies.
3. Dead (0 HP): When the Tree loses its HP it dies. Consequently, you lose the game and Moloch wins.

Reversing Time with Your Cards 

The following card strategies will help you to reverse the time on the Moloch clock, using a combination of Basic Cards from your Libary and the Unique Cards of your Hero.

Basic Cards

1. Debt Collector

   • Effect: "When this card kills another, Time reverses by 1."
   • Strategy: An offensive card that rewards aggressive trades. Ideal for maintaining pressure and achieving consistent minor Time reversals.

2. Time Ranger

   • Effect: "When this card kills another, Time reverses by 2."
   • Strategy: A mid-game powerhouse. With proper buffs or setups, Time Ranger can deliver significant impact while controlling the board.

3. Sea Turtle

   • Effect:
     • "When this card is played, Time reverses by 1."
     • "When this card is destroyed, Time moves forward by 1."
   • Strategy: A balanced, risk-reward card. Protect the Sea Turtle to capitalize on its Time-reversal effect while avoiding its destruction penalty.

4. Li

   • Effect: "When this card is destroyed, Time reverses by 1."
   • Strategy: Best used in sacrifice strategies or with defensive setups that mitigate destruction. Li offers a tactical advantage when timing is crucial.

Hero Strategies

Aleph

• Hero Ability:
  "Use Aleph's Hero Ability to draw Code cards."

  • This fuels combo potential, aligning with Time-reversal plays.

• Key Strategy:
  Cosmic Serpent

  • Effect: "Place the Cosmic Serpent on your board first and play any number of Code cards to reverse Time by 1."
  • Protect the Cosmic Serpent with cards like Transformer and Sophia to maximize its impact. Pair with Time Warp to reduce card costs and enable explosive combos.

Shakti

• Hero Ability and Synergy:
  "Use Destiny Calls and Shakti's Hero Ability in tandem to reverse Time."

  • Shakti excels in healing-based strategies that loop Time-reversal effects.

• Key Support Cards:

  • Phoenix, Unicorn, and Sophia: Heal Destiny Calls to reverse Time while sustaining the board.
  • Unicorn: Provides passive Time reversal every turn and scales with healing or buffs.

• Healing Synergy:
  Shakti’s healing effects keep key minions alive, allowing her to sustain longer matches and gradually shift Time in her favor.

Kairos

  • A high-impact card for clutch moments. Pair it with control tools like Comedy Charm to clear threats and sustain Time-reversal momentum.

Mastering Time reversal in Elowyn involves combining the strengths of your Basic and Hero Cards. Each strategy offers unique pathways to shift Time in your favor, whether through aggressive plays, healing loops, or powerful control tactics. Choose the cards and strategies that align with your playstyle.

Watch the tutorial below to learn how to use the SNAP button. Snapping lets you raise the stakes in your match, increasing the potential EWA token rewards if you win. But use it strategically—losing the match means you'll lose more tokens too.

Important: The SNAP button is not a form of betting or gambling. It’s a strategic feature based on skill, encouraging bold gameplay decisions rather than chance.

• The in-game currency is the EWA token, currently live on the testnet on the Base blockchain.
• Upon official launch, EWA tokens will transition to the mainnet during the Alpha release.

• Role: Reduces the cost (mana) of all the cards for a turn, enabling impactful play.
• Strategy: Play this card when you have multiple cards in hand that can create a powerful combo or tempo swing.

• Strategy: Use this to draw a Code card while gaining insight into the AI’s strategies, helping you strategize around deception mechanics.

• Role: Copies a minion of your opponent and adds it to your hand, providing versatility.
• Strategy: Target high-value minions of your opponent to replicate their effects, creating board swings and disruption.
