Elowyn empowers players to develop win-win strategies that drive collective thriving, rather than engaging in win-lose battles that lead to a race to the bottom, where ultimately, everyone loses. Through its gameplay, Elowyn fosters systemic consciousness, revealing how true victory lies in understanding interdependencies—choices either lead to mutually assured thriving or, if left unchecked, mutually assured destruction. By mastering strategic cooperation, players unlock the deeper wisdom for shaping a regenerative future.

Conscious Game Design

Elowyn’s gameboard is uniquely crafted with geometric principles and consciousness-enhancing features, designed to cultivate strategic, creative, intuitive, and integrative abilities. Unlike most traditional collectible card games (CCGs) that rely on a top-down battle format, Elowyn positions its four core elements at the board’s corners—stimulating brainwave integration and unlocking subconscious potentials in a more balanced way. These conscious design principles extend to the game art and UI, intentionally crafted to enhance consciousness.  

Transformative Lore and Characters

Based on our award-winning Future Humans Trilogy, Elowyn offers players the opportunity to engage with a transformative mythos as co-creators of the New Legends, based on a unitive narrative of life and reality. For example: 

• Sophia helps us create win-win strategies that focus on healing and regeneration.
• Magic Turtle help us create time-reversal strategies to withdraw from systems of harm and how to link this with protecting nature.
• Magic Owl helps us create strategies that reveal deception based on intuition and commitment to truth.  

Training Benevolent AI Models

By playing Elowyn, you actively contribute to training the Moloch AI and the Elowyn Tree of Life AI—benevolent AI and AGI prototypes for accelerating and achieving the transition to net-positive societies within planetary boundaries..

These AI systems also serve to decode the underlying Moloch game dynamics of the sustainability crisis, and catalyze new regenerative pathways and systemic solutions. The Elowyn game environment serves as a nursery and training ground for developing AI that serves life, rather than aiding humans to exploit it.

Regenerative Game Economy

Elowyn’s token-based economy (EWA) goes beyond Play-to-Earn models by integrating real-world impact:

• EWA tokens power regenerative projects that restore ecosystems and fund community-driven initiatives.
• EARTHwise Collective Fund will allow players to submit proposals for funding once the EWA token launches.
• Players can gain digital ownership and a role in governance, ensuring a fair, inclusive, and player-driven game economy and community.

EARTHwise Education for Empowering Youth

Elowyn is part of the larger EARTHwise ecosystem, which has a long history in transformative education and collaboration with Indigenous communities. The game is being actively integrated into youth leadership programs, such as:

• Living Cities Earth’s Future Leaders Program, engaging 10,000 youth in playing Elowyn for building skills and strategies for future thriving.
• The Earth School in the Philippines, where students are forming gaming clubs and contributing to UNESCO’s Education for Sustainability initiatives.

Sustainability Commitments

We recognize that game and AI development come with significant sustainability challenges, and we are committed to applying best practices to minimize our sustainability impacts. As we continue developing Elowyn, we are actively integrating the following strategies: 

• Greening Our Code—We are working with our advisor, Dr. Trista Patterson, and the UNEP Playing for the Planet Alliance to optimize code efficiency, reduce energy demands, and decarbonize game development.
• Industry-Tailored Carbon Accounting —We aim to implement the industry-specific carbon accounting tool developed by the Playing for the Planet Alliance for game studios to track and lower our footprint.
• Energy-Efficient Hosting—We are exploring renewable-powered cloud services to host our game and AI models more sustainably.
• Web-Based Application—Elowyn is designed as a web-based game to reduce reliance on energy-intensive gaming consoles and high-power PCs.
• Eco-Conscious Blockchain—We are evaluating blockchain networks with strong sustainability commitments for our Web3 features.
• Responsible AI Usage—We seek to minimize the use of generative AI in game art design, while taking actions to support biodiversity and invest in planetary regeneration activities.
• Player Actions for Sustainability—The game trains people to develop strategies, competencies, and actions for sustainability while having fun. Through our Education Pilots we make this explicit, linked with our EARTHwise Education for Sustainability curriculum.
• Hardware Optimization— We are committed to optimizing Elowyn to run efficiently on lower-energy devices to reduce unnecessary power consumption.
• Remote-First & Low-Carbon Operations —We prioritize virtual meetings and events to minimize travel and maintain a low operational footprint, together with a simple lifestyle that minimizes consumption and waste.
• Planetary Regeneration Commitments—We support ecosystemic regeneration initiatives, based on an integral, rather than externalized commitment, by making this part of our Game Economy allocations. As well as taking action in our own lives to restore and strengthen Nature's biodiversity, and reduce our ecological footprint.

Additionally, we have applied to join the UNEP Playing for the Planet Alliance to set higher sustainability targets and benefit from peer-to-peer support in decarbonizing our game development and deployment.
